Bike and golf in El Escorial





We will bike along quite paths, Roman ways, fields with fighting bulls, small villages and towns like Segovia and El Escorial near Madrid. We will appreciate important monuments, castles and royal palaces like the one at La Granja de San Ildefonso.

At the weekend back in Madrid, we will have a rest leaving our bikes. We will visit the Prado with paintings of El Greco, Goya or Velazquez, Rembrandt at the Thyssen-Bornemisza or Picasso's Guernica at the Reina Sofia museum in Madrid. We will also enjoy many of the fine Tapas bars, taste our well-known Serrano ham and sample our Rioja or Ribero del Duero wines or just have a refreshing glass of Mahou beer at Plaza Mayor or Santa Ana square. Did you ever dance Flamenco or enjoy a great dinner off Plaza Mayor at the oldest restaurant called Sobrino de Botin where Ernest Hemingway tried the Segovian specialty of roast suckling pig. Walk a little further on to Cava Baja where you will find many other venerable tascas for tapeo. Let's try it! You will have a lot of fun for sure.

Madrid's based company Bravo Bike offers some lovely informative city bike tours which lead through the most beautiful parks like the Retiro or Casa de Campo parks using existing bicycle lanes. These active fun trips are easy and off the busy streets and avenues and believe it or not, you can see more and more bicyclists moving around.
