Segovia bicycle tours
We meet at our office at calle Juan Alvarez Mendizabal, 19 and transfer in our mini bus
to Riofrío, a royal hunting palace (1h drive) where we pedal
through its wonderful park watching wildlife. We continue gently on
small roads to the Royal Sites of La Granja de San Ildefonso. First, we visit the beautiful royal gardens and then the outstanding museum of the glass
factory. We pedal to Segovia on a bicycle line
where we have lunch at a restaurant enjoying simple and exquisite roasts like the suckling pig and young lamb. We are siting on a terrace looking at the spires of the late gothic cathedral at Plaza Mayor. There will be
enough time to visit the imposing Roman aqueduct made up of 166 arches and which seduces one from the first contact. After lunch, we continue to bike to the Alcazar, a fortress as
well as many other historical monuments like the monastery of Santa Maria del Parral, Vera Cruz church, the Segovia mint and San Lorenzo square and church all along the Clamores and Eresma rivers. At the end of the tour, we will drive back to Madrid and transfer to your hotel.
Another option but only for advanced cyclists is to cross the "Guadarrama Sierra" range, starting a rather steep up hill from Cercedilla to the pass Fuenfría and then biking downhill to Valsain, "La Granja" and the city of Segovia. A great experience with some off-road tracks. The up-hill of 9 kms (6 miles) is followed by a gorgeous down-hill of 14 kms (9 miles), partly on dirt tracks and paved roads.
This is one of the most beautiful bike tours around Madrid and can also be organized for families with their children, incentive travel and multinational companies. We are always flexible and adapting to our customer's needs and wishes.
Segovia is worthwile an overnight stay in one of the many charming downtown hotels or at the Parador. At the beginning of the new year 2008 the high-speed train AVE will connect Segovia with the Atocha train station in less than half of an hour's journey.
