The Hungarian ’Versailles’ hosted celebrations, opera performances and various musical events orchestrated by Joseph Haydn, who created a famous European musical centre here.

Beautiful scenery and vineyards pass by as we ride along the lake and arrive at Fertorákos. There is a good vista over the lake from one vantage point during the ride, islands of reed and the few beaches suitable for swimming are all visible from there.

From the quarry we ride through the village for 3 kilometres down to the pier on the lake, the other pleasant spot in Fertorákos. Next to the local boat-house the pier offers an opportunity for a short swim in the lake.
Back to the village and we ride to the border afterwards.
The border crossing at Fertorákos and Mörbisch is only available for pedestrians and bikers.
Mörbisch is a small village famous for its wine production, almost every local sells house wine or must from their yards.
